Bone Mineral Densitometry is performed for assessing osteoporosis. Osteoporosis results from loss of bone mass, leading to bone weakening and increasing the chance of fracture. Qscan utilizes Mindways QCT PRO for precise measurement and serial monitoring. The Spine and Hip are measured in line with World Health Organisation guidelines. Hip results (femoral neck T-Score) are able to be used with the WHO Fracture Risk Assessment Tool FRAX

It is best to make an appointment (02 6126 5000), and to bring your previous BMD reports if you have had a BMD scan before.

In most cases, the BMD report will be ready soon after your scan. A copy will be sent to your referring doctor.

You must arrange to see your referring doctor to discuss your report.
