Associate Prof Rajeev Jyoti, MD, FRANZCR, GCHE

Foundation Chairman and Consultant Radiologist

Rajeev was born in India, trained in Radiology in New Zealand and has been a Consultant Radiologist in Canberra since 2002, founding Universal Medical Imaging in 2009. Under Rajeev’s guidance UMI has grown into a comprehensive radiology practice with general rooms in Kingston and the installation of Canberra’s first 3.0 Tesla MRI machine at Calvary Public Hospital in 2012.

Professor Jyoti is passionate about driving innovation in Medical Imaging and has introduced several new techniques to the ACT region including MR urography, ultrasound for the assessment of Crohn’s disease and more recently prostate MRI. His other particular interests include paediatric radiology and imaging-guided pain management. Rajeev has published articles in a number of journals and presented at Scientific Meetings both in Australia and internationally including the American Society of GastrointestinaI Radiology and the European Society of Genitourinary Radiology.

Rajeev’s rather limited spare time is spent time with the family. He also enjoys tennis and running.


Dr Ann Harvey, FRANZCR

Director and Consultant Radiologist

Ann has worked extensively in both the public and private sectors in Australia after moving from Zimbabwe to Cape Town to New Zealand and then Perth, and has been a Consultant in the Canberra region since early 2006.

Dr Harvey has wide experience in all aspects of general radiology with a special interest in Musculoskeletal Imaging. Ann also has a strong background in breast and women’s imaging and was involved in setting up mammography at Fremantle Hospital in Perth and more recently a comprehensive breast service at Canberra Hospital. Ann has attended subspecialist training courses and overseas Fellowships in Breast, Pelvic and Musculoskeletal MRI.

Outside of work Ann dotes on her daughter and two dogs and is a formidable A-Z on gardening including best compost and worms. Ann enjoys camping and hiking in truly wild places, loves spending money, and hates cooking.


Dr Jeremy Price, FRANZCR

Director and Consultant Radiologist

Jeremy has worked as a Consultant radiologist in Canberra for over 20 years in the office-based private and public hospital environments, and for the BreastScreen program. Jeremy was a pioneer of Breast MRI in Australia and remains a passionate advocate for more widespread use of this technique. In January 2012, Jeremy had his textbook “Handbook of Breast MRI” published by Cambridge University Press. The book has since received favourable reviews in a number of journals including the American Journal of Roentgenology.

Dr Price offers a depth of experience in general radiology as well as subspecialty expertise in all aspects of breast imaging including MRI-guided biopsy and hookwire localization procedures.

When not working, Jeremy likes to relax at the coast and enjoys bird-watching, cryptic crosswords and mountain-biking on smooth surfaces.


Dr Tarun Jain, MD, FRANZCR

Director and Consultant Radiologist

Tarun moved to Australia in 2007 after working for 8 years in Radiology in India, including an appointment at the highly prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi. Dr Jain is a general radiologist with special interests in abdominal imaging and MRI including oncology. Tarun’s other areas of interest include musculoskeletal radiology and imaging-guided procedures while he has also worked with BreastScreen New South Wales since 2008.

Tarun has a strong academic grounding with published articles in several peer-reviewed journals. After joining UMI as an associate in 2011, Dr Jain was soon accepted into the partnership and has impressed his colleagues with his excellent managerial skills.

Outside of work, he keeps himself busy with a number of sports including cricket, while he also enjoys music and reading.
